Building Social Communication Skills

We LOVE teaching children and teenagers strategies and skills to enhance their social communication skills and increase their ability to make friends, participate in groups, and interact easily and comfortability in social environments.

We work one on one, in small groups, in large groups, and have a yearly summer camp!

Social skills we focus on include but are not limited:

  • Maintaining eye contact
  • Monitoring our body language
  • Prescriptive taking
  • Indirect versus direct messages
  • Understanding the hidden messages
  • Determining others emotions based on their body language
  • Social emotional regulation
  • Turn Taking in a group
  • How to join a group
  • Making friends
  • Working in small groups
  • What to do with bullies
  • Michelle Garcia Winner’s Social Communication
  • Every Day Speech programs

How do you know your child would benefit from social communication intervention?

  • Difficulty making friends
  • Difficulty working in groups at school
  • Difficulty participating in conversations
  • Difficulty understanding others perspective
  • Difficulty with inferencing peoples emotions or reading others body language
  • Difficulty understanding or telling jokes
  • Withdrawn from peers because participating in groups of any size is too hard
  • Feeling of getting bullied
